“It was the first time I realized that painting could capture the Word of God, speak into people’s lives and give me the opportunity to share my faith.”

BLOG

Every day all around the globe, artists on mission are creating, cultivating, and contributing in their communities. As they seek to see their art used in the work the Lord is doing, we want to share their stories to encourage and inspire.
This blog is a place to read those stories, giving you a glimpse into how the Lord is using the arts around the world.

A God Who Overcomes Obstacles

Written by

On today's Archive Wednesday, read the story of an HSI trip to North Africa. On the trip, the team saw the Lord work powerfully to bring people groups together to produce new music. Relationships were built, and the trip ended with the participants expressing a desire to learn more! Find out more below!

On this week's post from the archives, we are sharing a continuation from part of last week's post (you'll recognize the pink umbrella picture below and in last week's article)! This article features more information about the HSI trip to the Philippines in 2017. Here, learn about the different art forms used on the trip and how the team saw the Lord work as the people learned about God's story and how to share it.

Recently, two of our team members, Mat Carson and Daniel Lim, took a trip to the Republic of Benin (located in West Africa) to set up a recording studio in conjunction with Africa Sings. Africa Sings is a ministry that seeks to foster peace between Christians and Muslims throughout Africa. This was a short 3-day trip filled with set-up and teaching, but the Lord worked to encourage and equip all involved.

Finding New Ways to Pray

Written by

On today's post from the Archives, we are sharing an article about prayer. The article discusses several different HSI trips and how Erica Logan (now directing the Incarnate program for Inspiro) and others implemented creative ways to pray on each of them. Read below to find out more about the trips!

In this week's Post from the Archives, we are sharing an article about an HSI trip to Uganda in 2017. On this trip, the team was able to encourage the local artists to grow in their God-given creativity and to lead them in a songwriting workshop. The artists were excited to learn more about God's view of beauty and to begin composing their own songs. Find out more below!

If you found yourself on the canals in Chirk, Wales earlier this month, you might have seen an interesting site – seven artists aboard a canal boat, painting, chatting, and sailing. The seven women – from Wales, the Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Nigeria – hired a 21-meter (69 foot) boat and were on a mission to share the hope of the gospel through art.

Today's Archive Wednesday is a trip report from an HSI project in South Asia in July of 2018. During the trip, the team conducted a songwriting workshop with local pastors and musicians, teaching them to write worship songs in their language and traditional style. The team was ecstatic when the pastors created a benediction song - a new genre for them. Read more below about the trip!

It is such a joy for us when we get to highlight the fruition of our artists' projects. Last year, we shared an article with you written by Pat Butler about the process of writing her book, Collision: How I Found My Life By Accident. We have an update for you!

Music and Drama in Tanzania

Written by

On today's Post from the Archives, hear from Stephanie Biggs as she shares about an HSI trip to Tanzania. This trip focused on theatre and music and encouraged the Jesus-followers there to consider local art forms.
