“It was the first time I realized that painting could capture the Word of God, speak into people’s lives and give me the opportunity to share my faith.”

Soriano Catulay, a wonderfully talented musician, has served as a project artist with Inspiro in the Philippines for a number of years. Recently, he wrote a song of his own, and he has since recorded it. In March, Operation Mobilization had their annual International Leaders Meeting (the ILM), and Soriano was able to use some of his original music to help lead a worship session. Read below about his song 'Dalaygon Ka Oh Diyos' ('Praise You, O God') and follow the link to listen!

 1. Could you tell me a little bit about how you started writing songs?

Writing songs is not easy for me, I would say. I attempted many times before, but I could not finish a song. But, I honestly was inspired by a friend to write songs when they came to the Philippines to run a song writing workshop in our place, and they were encouraging us to write them in our own language. I think that was the start, and it made me more passionate.

2. What is the theme of the most recent song you wrote?

The theme of the song that I wrote is God's grace and everlasting love to us, and, because of that, our response to give Him the honor and glory He deserves.

3. How have you seen the Lord use this song?

The song was already a blessing in our Church youth group, and we sang it in our Sunday service before I recorded and posted it on my YouTube channel. After posting, I received messages from friends and people that I don't know personally saying that they were blessed and some of them are still playing and listening to it from time to time.

4. What was it like helping with the worship time for the ILM?

It’s a big opportunity to help as always, and I am personally blessed to be part of it. What a privilege, and I didn't expect it. It was a surprise for me.

5. Are you working on any more songs/do you plan to?

Yes, I am working and finalizing a song and planning to write more songs for the Lord.

Listen to Soriano's song here and follow along with the translation below.

'Dalaygon ka oh Dios' ('Praise You, O God')

From the very beginning

Your love oh God is eternal

From the very beginning

Your grace oh God, You are a fortress

Praise you O God

Worship Jesus

All praise be to You

Only to You oh God
