“It was the first time I realized that painting could capture the Word of God, speak into people’s lives and give me the opportunity to share my faith.”

BLOG

Every day all around the globe, artists on mission are creating, cultivating, and contributing in their communities. As they seek to see their art used in the work the Lord is doing, we want to share their stories to encourage and inspire.
This blog is a place to read those stories, giving you a glimpse into how the Lord is using the arts around the world.

On Tuesday, we learned about how the Lord continued to work in Jin's life after Incarnate, and we heard the beginning of how she has continued to work on her art during the pandemic. Today, we get to see up close what Jin has been working on during COVID - and it involves toilet paper! Enjoy Jin's words and artwork below and take in her God-honoring creativity.

The End: The Toilet Paper Call

An alternative approach to ‘the end.’

The end can be beautiful if you hold on to the true hope. Going through the end means going from darkness to light.

In the end, His glory prevails.

How Do I Create with Toilet Paper?

Whenever it comes to the end of the roll, I take a pause to observe, to let the meaning and representation of the end sink in. I notice that the natural folding of each roll end is unique. Some are actually rather beautiful. So, I keep the original and unique foldings of ‘the end,’ but communicate something different on top.

My conceptual art is primarily an idea, a symbol and a conversational platform. It frames my observations in a minimalistic form to single out the issue and to cause awareness. Written words and humour are my main ingredients to form artwork we can laugh at and ponder.

My watercolour paintings catch the buzz to propose the alternative —— an inoffensive beautiful opinion.
