Sue has been around Inspiro for many years, as she is married to Chuck Tryon, a visual artist who is also on staff with us. Prior to joining OM, Sue and Chuck lived in Rochester, NY, where they raised two children (Sam and Melinda). Sue worked as a children’s teacher for 25 years, filling roles that included kindergarten teacher, principal, junior high English teacher, and fifth and sixth grade teacher. Sue has quilted for 25 years, using quilting as an outreach and participating in her local quilting guild. She is also an avid reader, sometimes reading as many as three books in a week.
In 2008, she and Chuck joined OMUSA. While Chuck worked in IT and eventually joined Inspiro, Sue worked for a time in HR, then managed the bookstore, then moved to work in the print shop where she stayed for 12 years. Sue visited Inspiro's Incarnate program in Italy and Hungary for several weeks each time, sharing fiber artwork with the participants. She also served with half a dozen Inspiro outreaches in Prague, Czech Republic, including leading one of the teams with her husband, Chuck. Then in 2019, Sue went on a vision trip with OM's Freedom Challenge to visit projects in the Philippines, again sharing a quilt block making workshop. In July of last year, she retired from the print shop and was unsure what she would do next. At the beginning of this year, she was asked by Inspiro’s Director of Training to consider a role on our Spiritual Formation team. After prayer and consideration, she accepted the role and is excited to see how the Lord uses her in it.
The Spiritual Formation team help to plan devotional times for the Inspiro staff, and they evaluate the spiritual health of the team. The members also look for ways to encourage and enrich the spiritual growth of the Inspiro staff. In addition to this role, Sue continues supporting Chuck in his role as an Artist Mentor and in going on trips.
Asked what she is excited about in her role, Sue shared that she has been blessed to get to know the different members of the Inspiro staff. She was familiar with many of their names over the years, but she has enjoyed actually getting to know some of them now that she is on staff. She loves encouraging and praying for people and projects.

Her advice to an artist considering missions is to “cast the net with their artwork.” She shares she has seen firsthand the ways that people are drawn by art to seek the Lord, many of whom would not come to a church building if asked. She said, “It’s very precious to use those God-given talents to reach out and touch the lives of people in a way that other things won’t.”
We are so thrilled to have Sue on board! Please join us in welcoming her to our team!
