“It was the first time I realized that painting could capture the Word of God, speak into people’s lives and give me the opportunity to share my faith.”

BLOG

Every day all around the globe, artists on mission are creating, cultivating, and contributing in their communities. As they seek to see their art used in the work the Lord is doing, we want to share their stories to encourage and inspire.
This blog is a place to read those stories, giving you a glimpse into how the Lord is using the arts around the world.

Inspiro was thrilled to welcome Silvina Erwin as our Director of Training in January of this year! An Incarnate teacher, musician, writer, and visual artist, Silvina has been associated with Inspiro for many years, and we are excited to have her as part of our staff. Find out more about Silvina below!

Silvina was born in Argentina and grew up in the Canary Islands. At the age of 19, she joined OM’s ship ministry on the Logos II where she met her husband, Rich. They moved to the United States where she obtained her English Literature degree, after which they live in England and Spain. They came back to the U.S. to work with OM in 2006. Rich and Silvina have two daughters, Eden and Joelle.

Silvina is a visual artist, musician, and writer. She enjoys painting impressionist landscapes, experimenting with mixed media, and making and painting jewelry pieces. She shares, “Our home is full of little and big studios where creativity can run wild.” As a child, Silvina was formally trained in classical piano and participated in competitions until the age of 16. She also plays the guitar, which she has found helpful as she loves leading worship. She has written, illustrated, and published eight children’s books and an autobiography focused on her testimony. She has also published twenty-two art journals with her artwork on the cover and two calendars for rest days.

Recently, Silvina has been growing in her songwriting skills as she and Daniel Lim (an Artists Mentor with Inspiro) co-lead a songwriting group called Co-Write Global. Co-Write Global aims to inspire songwriters to collaborate with one another and to foster partnerships with artists across the globe. They spend 6 months writing and 6 months producing the chosen songs. “These collaborative writing sessions have evolved into nurturing spaces for worship, opportunities to connect with fellow songwriters, and even moments of healing,” Silvina says. Listen to what they have been up to here.

Silvina also teaches art and music in the local school where she lives. One of her favorite things to do is to share coffee and conversation with her husband and daughters. She loves seeing people discover that they are creative and anything to do with the arts and artists.

When asked what she was most excited about in her new role, Silvina said, “I’m thrilled to work with longtime friends. Being involved with Incarnate has truly been a life-changing experience for my family and me. It's exciting to be part of making this distinctive and transformative resource accessible to many more individuals in the near future. I am looking forward to putting incredible resources in the hands of our Alliance, OM fields, and anyone who's just starting to discover how much God loves seeing His children playing, creating, and inviting others to join in.” We cannot wait to see how God uses Silvina and her enthusiasm for people in this role. Join us in welcoming Silvina!
