“It was the first time I realized that painting could capture the Word of God, speak into people’s lives and give me the opportunity to share my faith.”

Janice T. (Alliance & Short-term team member)

Every day all around the globe, artists on mission are creating, cultivating, and contributing in their communities. As they seek to see their art used in the work the Lord is doing, we want to share their stories to encourage and inspire.
This blog is a place to read those stories, giving you a glimpse into how the Lord is using the arts around the world.

Lenka Knoetze, a Slovakian serving in South Africa, recently participated in Inspiro Arts Alliance’s Artists Residency program. Here is what she says about her recent work!

“I am dabbling in illustration a lot nowadays, which I love! I think illustration is like describing what you see and what you think. I find myself affected by my surroundings—nature, people or voices of culture and media. In my work, I wrestle with what I hear and see and try to shake it. I like shaking up the church too, pointing at grey areas. That is where we interact with the world and where, in this seemingly flexible freedom, our actions reflect what we are made of more than the extreme black and white opposites where the church and the world cannot seem to hear one another.”

Lenka’s pictures help pose questions and engage conversations about various issues such as masculinity, Zoom fatigue, and single parenthood. View more of her art on Instagram at @Lenka_Knoetze_Art
